Sport-Welt: Hey Little Boy Topseller at the BBAG Autumn Sales

Smiles all around for the BBAG team: CEO Carola Ortlieb seemed already happy after the first part of the Autumn Sales on Friday evening as 60 of the 82 horses in the ring were sold. In particular the high prices for some of the broodmares were surprising. Amongst them was Josefine (Lot 37) from Görlsdorf Stud. She is from a family with a solid base, in particuar thanks to breeder Jürgen Imm (Stall Nizza) who produced Black Type horses like Jalta and Juvena with her. Josefine was sold for 43.000 Euro to Etzean stud. Certainly one important reason for the good price must have been the fact that the daughter of Kallisto is in foal by Sea The Moon.

The leading role of Sea The Moon

Sea The Moon played a leading role as well on the second day of the sales. The same applies for Görlsdorf Stud but more of that later. With catalogue number 247 for the first time ever a foal from Sea The Moon, the most convincing German Derby winner, entered a ring. Sea The Moon is a stallion now at Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud in Newmarket, covering for a fee of 15.000 pounds. It certainly was a bit risky to offer a foal at Baden-Baden as Germany is not known for a strong foal market. But the idea by Micheal Andree of Römerhof stud to present the daughter out of winner Secrets (from a strong Black Type-Family) paid off. The foal was sold for 32.000 Euros to Chris Richner Bloodstock who bought the filly for Sandor Ribarszki, former trainer of the famous sprinter Overdose. But there was more to come for Sea The Moon. Görlsdorf was paid 36.000 Euros for the Sholokov-daughter Honey Pie (Lot 209) from the familiy of German St. Leger winner Hey Little Görl (in foal by Sea The Moon). She was bought by Richard Venn Bloodstock Ltd.

Willi Mullins buys Görlsdorf gelding

And there was another good news for Sea The Moon breeder Görlsdorf: Fittingly a horse with the name Hey Little Boy made the biggest headlines at the BBAG Autum Sales: The three year old gelding was the topseller for 75.000 Euros. Pierre Boulard bought the son of Adlerflug for Irish National Hunt legend Willie Mullins. The former German Derby hope and half brother to the already mentioned Dortmund heroine Hey Little Görl will now most likely try his luck over hurdles or fences.
